Roots in Kingston, Jamaica
Tenna Star was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and grew up in the Red Hills Road area in a family of nine children. Music played a major role in his upbringing, largely thanks to his mother, who strongly influenced his early development as a singer.
He often credits his mother as the backbone of his musical journey. Hearing her sing regularly at home inspired him from a young age, and faith was also a central part of daily life in the household.
His first musical group was a gospel band formed by his mother called The Tenn’s Brothers, which included Tenna Star, his older brother, and his younger brother Mark Tenn, who also became active in the music business.
Early Career in Jamaica’s Dancehall Scene
After leaving high school, Tenna Star worked various jobs, including graphic design, a field in which he developed strong skills. However, music remained his true passion, and he took every opportunity he could to perform.
